What others are saying
Wonderful book
This is the second book I have read by Davis Cameron Gikandi, and I think he is great. I did not give it 5 stars because it takes complete chapters on “A pocket full of money” and inserts them into this book, not that I don’t think they belong in this book, but I do think that Mr. Cameron should have taken the time to edit the information inserted so that it went better with the subject matter of “What is the meaning of Life”. Like the title suggests this is a profound question, asked by all great men throughout history. Mr. Cameron’s answer is fresh, practical and to the point. Even though I don’t think that anybody really knows the complete answer to this question, I think this book may give us some insights on some important aspects of “life” as well as practical advise as to how to understand it and make it better, furthermore it encourages us to be empowered by this knowing. It is definetely worth reading and even though the style might be a bit “choppy” the information and insights it contains are very very interesting. This book will help you find “Your One Thing”
I found this book by David Cameron Gikandi to be extremely informative and enlightening. It is obvious that the author has done exhaustive research in putting together this body of work. It is fascinating to see so many different things, science, religion, metaphysics, philosophy, and more in one book.It is very comprehensive in bringing together all these different aspects to form a single train of thought. He demonstrates the marriage of science and religion through quantum physics and eastern thought. Another point worth mentioning, is the fact that I enjoyed reading the research of David Hawkins, I found it to be very insightful.
I was amazed at the research done on the mice and monkeys in the discovery of an universal exchange of knowledge that traditional science cannot not explain, but it’s there. The monkeys and sweet potatoes, simply amazing. The part where his talks about the “blastema cells” leaves you wondering how long before humans will have this ability with the way science is advancing. Remarkable stuff. There is a in-depth section on Chakras and the role they play. Very interesting with the amount of information provided. There is something here for everyone. On the issues of Metaphysics and Philosophy, I was impressed once again at the depth of knowledge in this book. Anyone who can quote Gurdjieff has my attention. “Time is breath. Try to understand this.” – and, “Eternity is the infinite existence of every moment of time. If we conceive time as a line, then this line will be crossed at every point by the lines of eternity. Every point of the line of time will be a line in eternity. The line of time will be a plane of eternity. Eternity has one dimension more than time. “- Gurdjieff (1873-1949)
Now, on the question on the meaning of life. That’s a good question. Monty Python did a great job on tackling this question in their movie. A Jack Palance in “City Slickers” also did a great job of explaining the meaning of life. I love the scene in the movie City Slickers where Billy Crystal’s character, Mitch, is alone with Curly, played by Jack Palance. Curly is giving Mitch some life advice. Curly: Do you know what the secret of life is? [holds up one finger] This. Mitch: Your finger? Curly: One thing. Just one thing. You stick to that and the rest don’t mean s***. Mitch: But, what is the “one thing?” Curly: That’s what you have to find out.
So, with this book, I must agree with Jack on this one. I feel that everyone will find what it is that they are looking for in this book, but no necessarily the same as the next person. David lays out a compelling argument here, but it will be up to the reader to decide for themselves. Regardless of the esoteric merits of the book, that can be debated till the cows come home, the collection of information here, put together in the manner that it is, that in itself makes this book a winner.
A powerful and insightful
I have read a few spirituality books for amazon and found them to be mostly fluff and filler, but this one however had a lot of wisdom to be found in it. the book covers a pretty broad range of subjects that all focus on allowing you to understand and live the life you want. It also has plenty of graphs, charts, and spreadsheets that make is accessible and very easy to understand. Anyone who is currently feeling a little bit lost in their life should take the time to read this book, much wisdom lies within.
