Non-stop Adventure
I totally enjoyed this, and am glad that it appears that you will be having more in the future. I so enjoy the sassiness and interaction of the main characters. I don’t mind the sexual play between Michael and Valerie (they DO have a history after all, so it isn’t as if they just met and are jumping each other). The mayhem was controlled so that the faint of heart wouldn’t take offense, but the folks who like that kind of action will be satisfied.

Rod Pennington gives another lesson in writing
As an author, I often get the opportunity to present at book festivals and writers workshops. When fellow authors ask me who I like to read, I always respond “Rod Pennington.” When asked why, the answer is easy. I always learn something from his books. Pennington is the unchallenged King of Dialogue. After reading one of his books, the reader will understand why Hollywood brass calls on him so often to “fix” !–s. RP’s latest, A Family Reunion, will not disappoint his loyal readers. Writers pay attention to the dialogue and pacing. Pennington calls AFR “bawdy.” I call it a fun read. This is going to be a great series!

Jammed Packed With Action And Humor
When I purchased A Family Reunion, I didn’t know what to expect. The title of the book is very unassuming. However, as I started reading it, I noticed immediately the author’s easy writing style and witty dialogue. I enjoyed the humor injected into the book; one would not expect that in an action and thriller book.

Rod Pennington does a good job of introducing characters that are smart, witty, and interesting. The romance between Michael and Valerie has just the right mix of attraction and ambiguity that draws you to their story line. The Charon family dynamic is unusual, but in a good way.

I found this book to be jammed packed with plenty of action and humor. It’s definitely worth the price of the book and more. Pick up this book if you want a good read!

Bloodhound Bosch is still the best
After so many Harry Bosch stories you would think they should start to run out of steam – IMHO this is not so. Michael Connelly is a consummate author who can keep a great character running and evolving and continue to produce a top-class page-turning police procedural.

In the last book, after a short retirement Harry Bosch returned to the LAPD with a 5 year contract under the Deferred Retirement Option Plan – “The DROP”. He now works with the Open Unsolved Unit chasing up cold cases. In 1999, at the height of the LA Riots, Bosch briefly gets involved with the discovery of the gunshot death of a pretty female free-lance Danish press photographer who was apparently killed as part of the riot. This case had always troubled Bosch and he gladly accepts the challenge although after all that time the trail has gone cold.

Bosch is an impatient detective – to him momentum is everything. Once he is on the trail he is a bloodhound who never lets up until he finds a break. He calls this “The Black Box” because, similar to air crash investigation a single verified clue may open up the whole case. After diligent and clever police work Bosch finds his Black Box and discovers a web of intrigue and violence going back to the first Gulf War.

Working the case in his normal independent manner is not helped by his a strained relationship with and lack of respect for the competence of his superiors at LAPD, especially his current Lieutenant (O’Toole – nickname “O’Fool”). “You are the worst kind of police officer, Bosch. You are arrogant, a bully, and you think the laws and regulations don’t apply to you.” O’Toole refers Bosch to Internal Affairs on what seems to be a petty matter, but it is important because it affects the way Bosch can run the investigation and if the complaint is upheld he could easily lose his job because he is on a DROP contract.

Connelly keeps up the pressure and spins an exciting tale of skilled police investigation by a dedicated, independent but somewhat personally flawed Harry Bosch. I recommend this book as a great read for lovers of police procedurals and a good Christmas present for those who still read print books.

Congratulations to Allen & Unwin for releasing this Kindle edition in Australia nearly a week ahead of its release in the US by Hatchette.

#duckdynasty This is one of the best American Stories out there. How this family has succeeded around the world while keep true to their roots. And at the same time giving credit to GOD for their success. A must read.

Duck-tastic
This books is mostly about Willie, however Korie does add to the story throughout. While there were stories I would have loved more detail, this was an excellent book. I am an avid fan of the Duck Dynasty TV show on A&E.

Duck Dynasty…..loving it!
I love watching Duck Dynasty, they are some of the funniest, most down to earth people I’ve ever seen. I thought this was a great book, I liked learning about the family and it was well written. The pictures were awesome too! Now Uncle Si and Jase need to write one! Good job Willie and Kay, you and your family are inspiring, thanks for sharing your story.
Great book!
This was book was great fun to read! A impressive insight to the Robertson family that my own family have grown to love watching on tv. This book shows over and over that they give all the credit of their success to God.

Another great informative read in the `Superfoods’ series by Victoria Lancer. In this book Victoria gives us excellent nutritional information on a whole host of legumes (I’d only ever heard of a few of them) and best of all (for a novice like me) helps up to incorporate these superfoods into our daily diet. I would highly recommend this book and the others in the series to anyone serious about incorporating healthy alternatives in their diet.
